Ranking #1 doesn't mean what it used to.

Google has quietly rewritten the rules of search, and most e-commerce brands are still playing the old game.

−58%

Click-through rate lost by the #1 result when an AI Overview shows. Ahrefs

86%

Of question searches now show an AI Overview before any link. Search Engine Land

3+

Major algorithm updates punishing scaled, low-value content in the last 18 months.

What's actually happening

Google answers before the click

AI Overviews, AI Mode, and featured snippets answer shoppers' questions before they ever reach your site.

Volume stopped working

Core updates target scaled, thin content however it was made. Brands that built on page count are watching traffic disappear.

Revenue pages get hit hardest

Collections and product pages that aren't useful and easy for AI to read go invisible right when someone is deciding what to buy.

What wins now

  1. Buying-intent pages are the safest groundAI Overviews show on about 5% of transactional searches, versus 36% of informational, 86% of questions, and 95% of comparisons. Search Engine Land
  2. Being cited is the new rankingPages cited inside an AI Overview get about 2.1% click-through versus 0.9% for pages that aren't. Search Engine Land
  3. Fresh pages get citedAbout half of AI citations go to content published or meaningfully updated in the last 13 weeks, and roughly 30% are older pages that were refreshed. NoGood Something Inc.

What it means for your store: protect and expand your collection pages, build a few pages good enough to be cited, keep what already ranks fresh, and stop publishing definitions an AI can answer in one line.

What 7,960 pages taught us this year

We pulled every live page we built and published this year, across 102 e-commerce brands, and grouped them by format. Some formats win far more often, and hold their traffic far longer.

Built on our own data. 7,960 live pages we built and published this year for 102 e-commerce brands, tracked in Google Search Console.
3x

More clicks from how-to guides than "what is" articles. Format matters more than volume.

84%

Of traffic kept after 4 months on our how-to, vs, and collection pages.

371

Pages Google already shows that a refresh can turn into clicks in weeks.

Page typePagesAvg clicks / moPages with 100+ clicksClicks kept over 4 moClicks every month

Each row is a page type, not a single page. Blog types are grouped by title pattern, so this shows correlation, not proof of cause. "Clicks kept" compares the last 28 days with the same window four months earlier, for pages live in both.

What we build more of

  • How-to guides, our top performer
  • Best / Top and Vs pages, refreshed every quarter
  • Long-tail collections with buying intent
  • Problem and solution guides, like "mold in car"
  • Refreshes of pages Google already shows

What we stopped building

  • "What is" and "what are" articles
  • "Benefits of" articles
  • Standalone definitions (they move into an FAQ)
  • Topics that don't connect to a cluster
  • Pages built only to hit a page count

Pages that kept winning, month after month

Clicks every month for four months, flat or growing: Best Murder Mystery Game (Night of Mystery), How to Remove Cigarette Smell from Car (Chemical Guys), Ballpoint Pen collection (Cross), Best Posture Corrector for Women (Forme). Every one is a task, a decision, or a buying page. None is a definition.

The four surfaces you have to win

Shoppers now meet your brand in four places before they ever reach your site. Most brands are strong on one and weak on three.

Google rankings

Still the majority of e-commerce discovery. Collections and category pages need to rank for the non-branded, high-intent terms your buyers search.

AI citations

Being the source Google's AI Overview, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini cite when someone asks "what's the best [product] for [use]."

Branded search demand

When paid, social, and PR drive people to search your name, that demand becomes a trust signal to shoppers and to Google.

Reviews and press

Reviews, Reddit threads, and press mentions are what AI systems read to form an opinion about your brand.

Score your brand

Drag each slider to an honest 1 to 10. Your weakest surface is usually where the fastest gains are.

How we build content now

Fewer pages. Better pages. Pages that last. Every month is built around one Flagship. New pages support it. Refreshes keep the whole library earning.

Flagship

1 every month
The job
Become your best-ranking, most-cited page for a big cluster or high-volume commercial keyword.
Examples
protein barsbest posture correctorcar odor eliminator
Standard
3,000+ words, human-written with a full editorial pass, original research or brand data, custom images, a designed layout, and an interactive tool matched to the topic.
Bonus
A noindexed version becomes your Meta and Google Ads landing page.

New collection

About 2 of every 3 new pages
The job
Capture long-tail buying intent that supports the Flagship.
Examples
low sugar protein barsposture corrector for women
Standard
Products first. 300 to 800 human-edited words below the grid.

New guide

About 1 of every 3 new pages
The job
Win task and decision searches, never definitions.
Examples
how to remove cigarette smell from carbest murder mystery games 2026
Standard
1,500 to 2,500 words with real steps and real products, the detail AI can't summarize in one line.

Refresh

Climbs from 2 to 10 a month
The job
Upgrade pages Google already shows but people don't click yet.
Minimum
At least 3 upgrades: title or meta, H1, below-grid content or FAQ, updated stats, comparison table, schema, links to the Flagship, product curation, or custom images.
Why
Fresh pages are what AI engines cite.

AI on the process, humans on the page. AI handles research, briefs, outlines, link maps, schema, and QA. Writers and editors own every word that goes live.

What would your first Flagship be?We'll pick it with you on the call, based on your top sellers and margin.

How we choose what goes in each month

  • 3 to 4 clusters a year, built around your top-selling, highest-margin products.
  • Evergreen best sellers go first. Month one targets your best product, not a seasonal bet.
  • Publish 2 to 3 months before the peak. Holiday gift guides go live in August or September, not November.
  • Seasonal pages come back. Last year's gift guide becomes a refresh, not a new page.
  • The plan flexes. Any Flagship can swap for a launch or a shift in the data with 30 days' notice.

Example: a car care brand starting in January

Wins in month one, not month six

New pages take months to rank. Refreshes work on pages that already have Google's attention, so they move in weeks.

371

Pages ready to move

Pages in our portfolio with 1,000+ impressions a month and fewer than 5 clicks. Google shows them. Nobody clicks yet.

Weeks

Not 3 to 6 months

Page-two rankings, weak titles, and thin collections respond to upgrades fast.

Before / after

Uplift you can verify

Every refreshed page has a baseline, so the revenue we add is provable.

How we prove refresh revenue

  1. Snapshot the baselineOn refresh day we record the page's last 28 days of clicks, impressions, position, and organic revenue.
  2. Measure the same window afterWe compare 28 and 90 days post-refresh against that baseline.
  3. Adjust for your site's trendRefreshed pages are compared against untouched pages, and year over year for seasonal pages.
  4. Report it as its own line"Revenue uplift from refreshed pages" sits next to revenue from new pages in your monthly report.

Our rule: we claim incremental uplift only, never revenue a page was already earning. You can check every number.

Which of your pages are ready to move?On the call we'll pull your pages with high impressions and low clicks from Search Console.

Fast money while the SEO cooks

SEO is slow money: it compounds over 6 to 12 months. A/B testing is fast money: a winning test pays out the day it ships, on every visitor from every channel.

A/B tests won across 26 e-commerce stores, an 86.8% win rate.

Slow money: SEO

  • Grows traffic you don't pay for per click
  • Takes 3 to 6 months for new pages to rank
  • Compounds for years once it lands

Fast money: A/B testing

  • Grows how many visitors buy
  • Pays out in weeks, from the first winning test
  • Lifts paid, organic, email, and AI traffic at once

Every page has a conversion job

Ranking gets people to the page. Testing and design get them to buy. We treat every page like a paid landing page, because functionally that's what it is.

Guides and Flagships

Embedded CTAs, product placements at key scroll points, and a clear path to the money pages.

Collections

Products first, content below the grid, and link clusters that spread authority across your catalog.

Product pages

Every channel ends here: paid, organic, and AI-referred. Reviews, imagery, and the add-to-cart area get tested continuously.

Why the two multiply

Revenue is traffic times conversion rate. SEO grows the first number. Testing grows the second. Run both and every new organic visitor lands on a page that already converts better, and every ad dollar buys more orders while you wait for rankings.

Run your own numbers

Slow money (SEO alone)

Paid ads: the fastest money of all

Google Ads produces conversion data in weeks, while SEO takes 6 to 12 months to prove out. We run both off the same keyword map, so paid tells us what sells before we invest months of content.

15.7%

Paid CTR when cited

Brands cited in AI Overviews saw 15.74% paid CTR versus 11.19% when not cited. Seer via TechWyse

Weeks

To validated demand

Paid data tells us which collection keywords actually sell before we invest months of content.

1 page, 2 jobs

Flagship as ad page

Each Flagship's noindexed twin becomes your Meta and Google Ads landing page.

  • High-converting paid keywords with no organic presence become the next Flagship or collection.
  • Keywords that don't convert in paid get dropped from the content plan before writing time is spent.
  • As organic rankings climb, ad spend shifts to the next tier of keywords.

Questions we hear on every call

What does it cost?

It depends on how fast you want results and how much you want us to take on: SEO on its own, or SEO with A/B testing and paid ads running alongside it for faster revenue. On the call we look at your store, your goals, and your timeline, then recommend the setup that gets you there, with the revenue math behind it. You leave with a custom plan either way, whether or not we work together.

How long until we see results?

Faster than most people expect from SEO. Refreshes move first, often within weeks, because Google already shows those pages. A/B test winners pay out the day they ship, and paid ads produce conversion data in weeks. New pages typically take 3 to 6 months to rank, and Flagships compound over 6 to 12 months. That's why we run fast money alongside slow money: you see results early while the long-term growth builds.

What makes you different from other SEO agencies?

Three things. First, every role is in-house: content writers, developers, data analysts, UX designers, Figma designers, and image designers. Because we control every step from research to launch, we control the quality and the outcome, and we can over-deliver. Second, QCK was founded by a CPA, so revenue and ROI come first. Most agencies avoid tying their work to revenue. We report it every month. Third, our plan comes from our own data, 7,960 pages and 197 conversion tests, not from selling page volume.

How much of my team's time does this take?

Very little, because our in-house team covers every role a project needs: strategy, writing, development, UX and Figma design, image design, and data analytics. Your part is one monthly review call, quick approvals before anything goes live, and access to your store and analytics. You don't need to hire anyone or manage freelancers.

Can you guarantee rankings?

No agency can honestly guarantee rankings, because Google and AI engines control them, and anyone who does is selling you something. What we can show you is our track record: 7,960 pages published this year, 197 conversion tests with an 86.8% win rate, and the client results on this page. And every month you see exactly what we built, what moved, and what it earned.

Will AI-written content get us penalized?

Google penalizes thin, scaled content however it's made, not AI itself. One study found 86.5% of 600,000 top-ranking pages contained some AI content, with no real link to rank. Our rule: AI handles research, briefs, outlines, schema, and QA. Writers and editors own every word that goes live.

We already have an in-house team or another agency. How does this fit?

Tell us how you're set up on the call. We'll show you where the plan overlaps with what your team already does and where it fills gaps, so nothing gets built twice. Many brands use us to cover the roles they don't have in-house, like development, design, or testing.

What if a page doesn't rank?

Then it becomes a refresh. Every month we review what's working, and pages that aren't earning clicks get upgraded or reworked. Every Flagship also gets refreshed quarterly. If the data says a topic isn't paying off, we change course at the next monthly review instead of doubling down.

How do you report results?

Monthly, built around revenue, not vanity metrics. Revenue from refreshed pages and new pages is shown as separate lines, alongside rankings and AI citations. We snapshot every refreshed page's numbers before we touch it, so the uplift we report is incremental, never revenue a page was already earning.

How do you track AI visibility?

We track how often AI answers from Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini cite your site, and which pages they cite. It's reported alongside your rankings and revenue every month.

Who owns the content?

You do. Everything we build is built natively on your site. You own all of it, all the time, forever.

Do you work with Shopify?

Yes. Most of our clients run on Shopify, and our build process is designed around it. If you're on another platform, tell us on the call and we'll walk through how it works for your setup.
